Restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden

"Browns Covent Garden" in London, England, is an elegant restaurant and brasserie housed in a historic building that was once the Westminster County Court. Since its opening in 1996, this establishment, part of the longstanding Browns chain established in 1973, has been located in the vibrant heart of the West End, benefiting from the lively atmosphere of Covent Garden, surrounded by theaters, galleries, and attractions. The architecture of the building is impressive, blending classic elegance with modern accents, further emphasized by a recent Art Deco-style renovation. The interior combines stylish details with inviting warmth, making it a popular venue for various occasions – whether it's a relaxed breakfast, a pre-theater dinner, or a private celebration in the upper rooms, known as the "Courtrooms."

Best restaurants in the West End

The cuisine at Browns Covent Garden is deeply rooted in British tradition but with a modern, European twist that makes the dishes both refined and accessible. A highlight is the "Beef Wellington," a succulent fillet of beef enveloped in crispy pastry and served with a rich truffle mushroom sauce – a dish perfect for special occasions. Equally popular is the "Lobster Thermidor," where fresh lobster is baked with a creamy, spicy sauce, elevating the enjoyment of seafood to a new level. For lighter options, the "Grilled Sea Bass" with seasonal vegetables and a lemon butter sauce highlights the freshness of the ingredients. Vegetarians will enjoy dishes like the "Butternut Squash & Coconut Curry," which impresses with its creamy texture and exotic flavors.

Culinary experiences in London

The dessert menu is another highlight that often delights guests. The "Sticky Toffee Pudding" – a warm, sweet cake with caramel sauce and a dollop of vanilla ice cream – is a British classic offered here in perfection. The "Salted Caramel Profiteroles" with their delicate cream and sweet-salty contrast are a favorite among guests. The drinks menu is equally versatile, with a new whisky bar offering an impressive selection of Scottish single malts, as well as handcrafted cocktails like the "Elderflower Spritz," perfectly complementing the dishes with its floral lightness.

Traditional british food with a modern twist

The restaurant is known for its flexibility, offering various culinary experiences throughout the day – from breakfast with freshly baked scones to traditional afternoon tea and indulgent Sunday roasts. Pre- and post-theater menus are particularly popular, catering to nearby theaters and providing guests with a quick yet high-quality meal. The service is often described as warm and professional, with staff attentive to individual requests, making the atmosphere a truly memorable experience.

Had a fantastic meal at Browns - the duck salad to start was delicious, followed by the chicken schnitzel (with its perfect and crunchy thyme crumb coating), and crème brûlée for dessert. The sakura paloma, elderflower sherbet and hedgerow paloma were perfect drinks, with the first two being excellent non-alcoholic options. Huge thanks to Dharma and the team for being so attentive and looking after me so well, and to the chefs for making such a memorable and delicious meal :)

Been a while since I previously dined here but decided to make a reservation for a bite to eat before heading to the theatre. Ordered off the theatre prefix menu available between 4pm-6:30pm; I highly recommend the ribeye (£6 supplement but cooked perfectly) but there were also some great options for vegans & vegetarians. We were served by Ada who was lovely, never felt rushed and was extremely accommodating when it came to an allergy within the party Will definitely be coming back

Really good experience! Went for the afternoon tea which we served with champagne which was very good! The service was class and what you’d expect for a restaurant and establishment of this class. It was someone’s birthday too and (for free) gave us a dessert plate and eclairs. I was impressed. The atmosphere was nice and chill, pleasant for an afternoon tea! The food was good, the sandwiches tasted slightly old but otherwise the cakes and scones were made fresh and was good. The selection of food was large and a good range of food for the price. Do I recommend, yes of course!

We booked a high tea for lunch and enjoyed every moment of the experience. Atmosphere is super as we had a table in a spacious and historically dignified old courtroom. There is a selection of tea that you can choose from, and our Earl Grey was the nicest I ever tasted. We took the lunchmenu of little bites of scones and sandwiches. Our waiter Sergio was very professional & friendly and made us feel welcome.
